OpenHulu.com banned on Digg

Well apparently OpenHulu, which is a legally created site that embed's the videos LEGALLY from Hulu.com 's invite only beta program, is getting people banned on Digg. WOW... come on Digg! Get you're shit together! You've got egg all over your face! I wonder if posting this to digg will get me banned...

I tryed to post a link directly to the Openhulu page about the issue, but Digg has openhulu completely blocked. What an incredibly inane society we have become when not even legal video sites can be shared on social news pages.

SHAME ON YOU DIGG!

UPDATE:
I was able to post the original openhulu.com link to Digg. Aparently I am not a mass poster who knows how to use the digg system. But, I got it figured out. I will be fascinated to see if anyone notices or does anything about it. Till then I will just enjoy OpenHulu.

Turbo/Retro Encabulators

Ok,

So I know what I want for my birthday. This was origanlly conceived in 1944 as seen here. But Rockwell Automation has since taken up the idea and come up with this.

I know its a lot to ask but it would go a long way in replacing my original which had "a baseplate of preframulated amulite surmounted by a malleable logarythmic casing in such a way that the two Spurving bearings were in a direct line with the panometric fam."

Thank you!

PCTHiker.com: Pepsi Can Stove

Have you ever wanted a quick stove when your camping? Especially when backpacking and you don't want to lug around that 2 burner gigantic coleman stove. Well, you can buy one for close to $100, or you can make one out of 3 pepsi cans.
PCTHiker.com: Pepsi Can Stove
They describe in detail how to make your own compact stove! pretty awesome!

Linux-Kernel Archive: Re: Update suspend-to-RAM vs. video documentation

I found an answer to my linux sleep problem.

for reference I have a IBM T42p running Gentoo Linux

When I would put my system to sleep, it would sleep fine as long as I had a acpi_sleep=s3_bios in the kernel parms line. And come back fine as well. The only problem was if I tryed to sleep and resume when I was not in X, the screen would come back up garbled.

I found this link to an archive which specified a tool "vbetool" that could save and restore the state of the video bios. Using it I am now able to sleep and resume without a hitch whether I am in X or in a text console :)

Some GREAT AJAX and DHTML stuff

Wow, its been way too long :)

If you've been around tech lately, and are at least in some way interested in web technologies, you've probably heard about AJAX and DHTML. Or maybe you've seen some great examples of them in use. Such as Gmail, The new Google Start Page , or even Micro$oft's own start.com.

So, I just started my Masters in Computer Science at CalState, and I am taking a software engineering class. In this class we have to do a project to create a webbased app that allows the teacher(He's the chair of the dept.) to use a Drag'n'Drop interface to schedule classes for upcoming quarters. I immediately thought, wow, what a great project to use AJAX and DHTML on. So when I got home I did a google search for AJAX Drag and Drop on google.com.

I found the website of Walter Zorn, which among other great javascript libraries, contains an LGPL based javascript drag'n'drop library for doing all kinds of AWESOME dhtml manimupation of images and layers and so forth. I highly recommend checking it out.

Have Fun.

linux network autoconfig

When you switch OS's there are certain features of said previous OS that are missed. For me one of these was the ability to have my network autoconfiged based on whether I had a cable plugged in or not.

Well along came ifplugd. What it is designed to do is check whether or not a link is detected on your device and then start the device, or not depending on the result.

I had tryed this several months(7-10) ago with very little success. Tonight though I have found an excellent step by step howto that works great with Gentoo, which is what I use.

I am SO happy :)
